Spectrophobia: The Fear of Ghosts

Spectrophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of ghosts.  I don’t fear ghosts as much as I have respect for them.  I won’t lie I do freak out when I encounter spirits and I encounter them on a regular basis at my work.  After a while you learn to just ignore them and go on with your day.  Most mean no harm, but I’ve encountered a couple that I’m afraid of and if I have an up close encounter with one I will most definitely develop this phobia.  Close encounters with ghosts are the main cause of this phobia, but it can also be caused by stories and the fear of the unknown.

Scelerophobia: The Fear of Bad Men or Burglars

Scelerophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of bad men or burglars. This is a rational fear that is taken to an extreme because of a traumatizing experience.  An intense movie involving bad men or burglars is enough to trigger this phobia if the person is traumatized by the movie.  It may sound strange, but I’ve been traumatized by a movie before and it took months for me to get what happened in the movie out of my head.  Sometimes this fear never goes away.

Scatophobia: The Fear of Fecal Matter

Scatophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of fecal matter.  Fecal matter is completely gross for one thing, but it also contains a lot of bacteria, germs and things we really don’t need to come in contact with and these are just some of the reasons some people have Scatophobia.
