Potophobia: The Fear of Alcohol



Potophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of alcohol.  Those who suffer from this phobia may also fear anyone who consumes or has consumed alcohol.  They will also avoid places where there is a possibility of being exposed to alcohol.  Potophobia is also known as Methyphobia and is closely related to Dipsophobia, the fear of drinking alcohol. 
A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread.  Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.

Potamophobia: The Fear of Rivers or Running Water



Potamophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of rivers or running water.  This phobia could be caused by a traumatic experience such as almost drowning or witnessing a drowning.  Potamophobia may also be caused by nightmares involving rivers or running water.
A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Ponophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of overworking, fatigue or pain.  This phobia is most likely caused by an experience of working to the point of exhaustion and pain

Porphyrophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of the color purple.  Those who suffer from this phobia may suffer extreme anxiety from coming in contact with anything that is purple and in extreme cases just from hearing the word “purple”.
