Monopathophobia: The Fear of a Definite Diseae

Monopathophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of a definite disease.  Those who suffer from this phobia are afraid of illnesses in specific parts of the body or a specific disease.  Monopathophobia is closely related to Pathophobia-The Fear of Disease, Rectophobia-The Fear of the Rectum or Rectal Disease, Syphilophobia-The Fear of Syphilis, Dermatosiophobia-The Fear of Skin Disease, Meningitophobia-The Fear of Brain Disease and Albuminurophobia-The Fear of Kidney Disease.
A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread.  Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.
