Angrophobia: The Fear of Anger or Becoming Angry

Angrophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of anger or of becoming angry.  They fear hurting the feelings of others and they also fear that their anger will turn into violence.  Those who suffer from Angrophobia will often withdraw from all social events and avoid contact with everyone.  This phobia may be caused by physical and/or emotional abuse as a child.

A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread.  Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.

Do you suffer from Angrophobia?  Please share your story.  How was it triggered and how does it affect your life?
