It's interesting reading through the Google results for anthopophobia how everyone talks about 'curing' it. After 50 plus years of hating being around other people I have finally stopped seeing this as something that is 'wrong' with me and needs 'fixing'. This idea always came from others - it was never my belief that this was a problem, but others - chiefly extroverts who would hate having to spend time alone and who therefore couldn't believe that someone could 'enjoy' their own company.
I find I need to be alone for large parts of the time the way other people need food or sleep. I'm hyper-sensitive, and pick up too strongly on other people's moods and negativity. Other people seem to drain my energy. Also, I just really enjoy solitary pursuits like reading and writing.
I'd say to anyone who believes that they 'suffer' from anthopophobia to consider the possibility that they have been made to feel that there is something wrong with them by the attitudes of others. If you are happy to be solitary then embrace that and create a life that makes you feel comfortable. People aren't all the same - thank God! Don't waste your life believing that you need to be 'cured' of being a bit different to the rest of the herd.
