Touloungeaphobia: The Fear of Tongues

Touloungeaphobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of tongues.  Some with this phobia have a fear of swallowing their own tongue.  Those who suffer from Touloungeaphobia can’t stand to be licked and French kissing is most likely out of the question.  This phobia can be very debilitating.  How would you feel if you were deathly afraid of something that was an important part of your body?
A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread.  Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.
