This is a healthy reaction that our bodies have that has ensured the survival of our species throughout the millennia. Phobias are also a common anxiety disorder that, according to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), affects between 8.7% and 18.1% of Americans.

Kopophobia: The Fear of Fatigue

Kopophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of fatigue.

There's not a lot of information on this one. I think it's safe to assume that this phobia is possibly caused by extreme fatigue and the inability to accomplish ones tasks for the day.

Personally, I can totally understand what would trigger this phobia. I have Fibromyalgia and I am tired 24/7. It doesn't matter how much I sleep or how much I rest, I'm still tired. When you are an adult and you have responsibilities there is not enough time to be tired all the time. Sometimes I dread getting up in the morning because I don't want to spend the day totally fatigued and unable to do what I need to do. So I can definitely see this turning into a full blown phobia very quickly. I'm certain that anyone with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Myofacial Pain Syndrome, Lyme Disease, any type of cancer or one of the many other chronic illnesses that cause extreme fatigue will agree with me.

If you suffer from Kopophobia please tell us your story. What triggered it and how do you cope with it? It would also be interesting to know if you have a chronic illness.

Kleptophobia: The Fear of Stealing

Kleptophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of stealing. It can also mean the abnormal and persistent fear of being robbed which is also known as Harpaxophobia. These phobias often occur together.

Kleptophobia is often caused by a negative or traumatic experience. Recovering thieves may develop this phobia because they are afraid they will fall back into their old ways. They may become almost paranoid that they are going to steal something. As with the fear of being robbed. If a person has been robbed before they become extremely fearful that it will happen again and this fear eventually turns into a phobia.

If you suffer from Kleptophobia or Harpaxophobia please share your story. What triggered it and how do you cope with it?

Judeophobia: The Fear of Jews

Judeophobia is the irrational and persistent fear of Jews.

Judeophobia is another phobia that may occur more out of hatred than fear. Everything that I’ve found online represents Judeophobia as a hatred of Jews and Judaism, not as an actual fear of the people.

If you suffer from this phobia, please share your story. How did it begin and how does it affect your life?
