Taphephobia: The Fear of Being Buried Alive or of Cemeteries

Taphephobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of being buried alive or of cemeteries.  This phobia made the top 10 list of bizarre phobias, but I don’t see this one as bizarre at all.  I know those of us with phobias take our fear to the extreme, but who doesn’t fear being buried alive.  The thought of it is terrifying and I don’t even have this phobia.  Taphephobia is also known as Taphophobia.
A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread.  Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.
Do you suffer from Taphephobia?  Please share your story.  How was it triggered and how does it affect your life?
