Thermophobia: The Fear of Heat


Thermophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of heat.  This includes hot weather and hot objects.  Those who suffer from this phobia may live in a cold climate, stay inside when it’s hot outside and avoid hot water and hot food.
A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread.  Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.

Tomophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of surgical operations.  Many of those who suffer from the phobia will deny much needed operations because of their fear.

Toxiphobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of poison or of being accidentally poisoned.  It is also known as Toxophobia, Toxicophobia and Iophobia.

Traumatophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of physical injury or of battle.  This phobia is associated with Blood-Injury-Injection or BII Phobia.  It is most common in females and those with less education.

Trichinophobia: The Fear of Trichinosis


Trichinophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of trichinosis.  Trichininosis is a disease caused by parasites known as trichinella spiralis or the roundworm.  It infects and damages body tissues and is obtained by eating raw or undercooked meat from animals that are infected by the parasite.
