Erotophobia: The Fear of Sexual Love or Sexual Questions

Sexual Anorexia: Overcoming Sexual Self-HatredErotophobia is the persistent and irrational fear of sexual love or sexual questions.  Those who suffer from this phobia will usually not talk about sex and they have extreme negative reactions to sexually explicit things like movies and magazines.  Some with Erotophobia do have sex, but they don’t do it very often.

One of the main triggers of this phobia is the lack of knowledge about human sexuality. A negative sexual experience can also be blamed for triggering Erotophobia.

A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread.  Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.

Do you suffer from Erotophobia?  How was it triggered and how does it affect your life?
