Nelophobia: The Fear of Glass

Fear of MirrorsNelophobia is the extreme and irrational fear of glass. Glass is all around us everywhere we go.  Windows, mirrors, picture frames and the list goes on and on.  So how can you live your life normally if you have Nelophobia?  All phobias have a negative impact on lives and this one is no different.

I have Coulrophobia- The fear clowns, and I can easily limit my exposure to them.  I don’t see how you can easily limit exposure to glass.  Think for a moment what it would take to rid your home of glass.  That would take some serious work wouldn’t it?

Lockiophobia: The Fear of Childbirth

Lockiophobia is the extreme and irrational fear of childbirth. Childbirth is scary, plain and simple.  The thought of a child coming out of you gives you every reason in the world to become apprehensive about the whole situation.  I don’t know a woman yet who goes into childbirth with any fear or anxiety.  It’s natural and it’s expected.  When does this natural fear become a phobia?

Traumatic childbirth such as prolonged labor or having to do an emergency c-section because of complications can easily trigger Lockiophobia.  These women may have severe postpartum depression and either refuse to have another child or they may give up the one they have.

It's normal to fear having to put your full dependence on someone else. Those who have chronic illness' often feel this way.  When this fear becomes over-exaggerated Soteriophobia sets in. They fear something that hasn't even happened yet for the sole reason that it could happen.
