Pagophobia: The Fear of Ice or Frost

Pagophobia is the extreme and irrational fear of ice and frost.  Winter has to be a really tough time for those who suffer with this phobia.  I’m sure the freezer is also unwelcomed.

I have been unable to find anything on this phobia so it’s up to those of you who suffer from it to inform the world about Pagophobia.

A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread.  Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.

Do you have Pagophobia?  Please share your story.  How was it triggered and how does it affect your life?
