Vitricophobia: The Fear of a Step-Father

The Stepfather
Vitricophobia is the irrational and persistent fear of a Stepfather.  This one may stem from an abusive stepfather or from witnessing a friend being abused by their stepfather.  Movies may also trigger this one.  Just last year a movie called The Stepfather came out.  It was about a Stepfather who was not a very nice person. Read the full synopsis here.

A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread.  Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.

Do you suffer from Vitricophobia?  Please share your story.  How was it triggered and how does it affect your life?
