Taurophobia is the irrational and persistent fear of bulls. Some people are willing to run with the bulls, while others are deathly afraid of them. I don’t quite think I have this phobia, but you’re not going to catch me anywhere near one either.
Taurophobia may be brought on by a traumatic event that involves a bull such as an attack or unexpected close encounter. Some people say that they never knew they had this phobia until the very first time they saw a bull. A bull’s intimidating size may have a lot to do with this phobia.
A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons. The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread. Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.
