Samhainophobia: The Fear of Halloween

Halloween - Unrated Director's Cut (Widescreen Two-Disc Special Edition)Samhainophobia is the abnormal and persistent fear of Halloween.

A phobia is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities or persons.  The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. Other phobia symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and an overall feeling of dread.  Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders.

My 12 year old niece has this one.  She's had it since she was barely a toddler.  She tolerates it now a little better but, she'll tell you that Halloween is not her favorite holiday.

Samhainophobia can be triggered by a traumatic event that occured on Halloween or maybe even because of Halloween.

If you suffer from Samhainophobia please share your story.  When did the phobia begin and how does it affect your life?

MY name is travis and I did not see a fear of darkness so i thought this would be the the closest I get to it.

I use to be afraid all my child years of things and slept with my mom until almost age 8-9 today I'm almost 25 years old and still have this fear at times but I today over come it by simply turning off lights and walk in complete darkness, this seems to help me. I keep repeating to my self The same things that I see in daytime is the same things that in the night and the night or darkness and this helps
